Search is on for missing fisherman at Arabian sea

Bhatkal: The fisherman , who went missing in the Arabian sea,  is  being searched by the Coast guard personnels.

The Coast Guard ship from Mangaluru, Kasturba Gandhi, is on the search for the missing fisherman.

As per the sources, 8 fishermen had gone fishing in a gillnet boat yesterday. Seven fishermen swam towards safety while one fisherman reportedly went missing. 

It is reported that the Coast Guards have recommended fishermen to check weather forecsts before venturing into the sea. It is also advised that the boats should operate in pairs or groups and fishermen should carry Distress Alerting Transmitters, radio communication equipments, biometric ids, extra fuel, mobile phones, batteries, first aid kit, flashlights and extra ration.
