'The Muslim community needs Doctors and Engineers more than clerics'

Bhatkal: The Rabita society held its annual Raabita awards ceremony to felicitate the meritorious students who had topped various fields in the academic year of 2015-2016.

 

The chief guest of the function, Mufti Ibrahim Rizvi, who had come all the way from Sri Lanka, addressed the gathering and urged the Muslim community to come forward in the fields of science and technology. "The Muslim community needs Doctors and Engineers more than clerics," he said.

He also said that the Muslim community should work towards clarifying the misconceptions and stereotypes labeled at them.

Moulana Ilyas Nadwi, a prominent personality of Bhatkal, in his speech, advised the Rabita organisation to counsel students regarding IT and encourage the students to get into civil services. He also stated that the muslim community needs experts in the field of journalism, science and physics. He advised the parents to let the children choose their own careers. He also praised the Rabita society for hosting the ceremony since years.

Moinuddin Ruknuddin, General Secretary of Khaleej council, had earlier introduced the Rabity society and its public welfare services. 

 Dr. S M Syed  Khaleelur Rahman was also felicitated for the conferment of the doctorate degree by the Ireland's Aldersgate University, earlier this year in Dubai.  Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his joy on seeing the massive number of student present and advised them to keep their aims high. 

The students who excelled in various academic and sports fields were awarded with the prestigious Rabita Awards. The Rabita rolling shield was bagged by Islamia Anglo Urdu High School for the 3rd time consecutively and the best teacher was awarded to Mohammed Jameel, teacher of Islamia Anglo Urdu High School. 

On the occasion, the English translation of 'Book of Azkaar' by Afzal Nadwi was released.

Moinuddin Ruknuddin, General Secretary of Khaleej council, had earlier introduced the Rabity society and its public welfare services. The programme begun with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by Abrar Motia. Naath was melodiously sung by Mohammed Ahmed Ruknuddin while Noufil Damudi sung the Tarana-e-Rabita. Yasir Kashimji presented his vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Muaz Shabandari. The programme ended with the supplications by Qazi of Jamaatul Muslimeen Moulana Mulla Iqbal Nadvi.
