Karwar: State-wide bandh call given by various organizations in protest against the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal verdict on Saturday evoked a mixed response in the district.

There was a good response to the bandh in Karwar. Siddapur, Yellapur, Mundgod and Haliyal while there was lukewarm response to it in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola, Sirsi and Joida. In Karwar, traders voluntarily closed their shutters. People remained indoors and main streets and circles were deserted. 

The bus service was halted since morning due to the bandh. Even petrol bunks and hotels closed their shutters, causing lot of inconvenience to passengers. Except pharmaceuticals shops, milk units, most of the shops and business establishments remained closed.
