Karwar: Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences will begin functioning from August 1 and therefore, Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul has directed the officials that the college building must be handed over to the college with all the facilities before July 26.

"Since the admission process has already begun. Therefore, final works of arrangement of furniture in the hostel room must be completed as soon as possible and three floors of college must be handed soon," SS Nakul told the PWD officials while inspecting the medical college and hostels on Thursday.

“More medical officers will be recruited from the district hospital to cater to the demand. Process of appointing seven doctors has begun by District Health Committee.” He said regular power supply must be provided to the college. Also, arrangement must be made for medical college students to use Maladevi ground for supporting activities. Proposal will soon be submitted to the government urging it to release the pending payment amount.
