Bhatkal: The famous festival of Hindu religion popularly known as" Maari  Habba" was held with traditional pomp and gaiety on Thursday in Bhatkal. Thousands of devotees turned up at the Marikamba temple, where the procession began for the immersion of Mari idol in to the sea.

The procession begins from the Marikamba Temple, Marikatta Bhatkal and passed through the Main road, old bus stand, Eidgah road, Bunder Road, Makhdoom Colony, Hanumangar to Jali beach.

CCTV cameras were installed and separate videographers were appointed at various spots to avoid any untoward incidents during the procession.

Additional police forces were deployed under the leadership of Additional S P Devraj,  ASP Dr. Anoop Kumar Shetty, CPI Suresh Naik, SI Revathi and SI Kodgonti.
