Yellapur: A boy was bit by a Lion-tailed macaque at Harur village in Mavinmane gram Panchayat limits in Yellapur taluk on Sunday.

The boy who was injured on his stomach was identified as six-year-old Jeevan, son of Ganapathi Kunbi of Harur. The lion-tailed macaque is being spotted near their house since two months. It is alone and it used to come down the moment it used to see children.

On Sunday morning when Jeevan came out of the house, the Lion-tailed macaque pounced on him, bit him and injured him.

The boy was immediately taken to Yellapur Community Hospital and is under treatment. The matter has been brought to the attention of Forest Departemnt, Ganapathi Kunbi said.
