Link Aadhar with ration card to get bio-coupon: Marji

July 31 is the last date for linking Aadhar number with PDS card

Hubballi: July 31 is the last day for linking of Aadhar card with ration cards to receive kerosene bio-coupons for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Food & Civil Supplies Department Sadashiv Marji stated that without these coupons, kerosene will not be provided.

At present, he said, at least one person of the family should link their Aadhar card with their ration card, and in future, mapping of all the family members would be needed to get kerosene at subsidised rate.

Issuing of coupons is free of cost, but the bar code details is must to receive the kerosene at 177 fair price shops, and 399 kerosene distribution centres in the district. The district administration has issued licences to 65 centres in the district, including 38 centres in Hubballi, and 16 in Dharwad.

Mr Marji said, at present, each family with four members are receiving four litres of kerosene at ` 18 per litter. More than 1.20 lakh people receives kerosene at subsidised rate in the district, he said.

3.21 lakh BPL families

Mr Marji said, there are 3.21 lakh BPL families living in the district, of which 3.18 lakh BPL cards has been distributed.

So far, only 72 per cent of these cardholders have linked their ration card and Aadhar card. Of the total 12.40 lakh beneficiaries only 8.92 lakh have linked their Aadhar card, he said, and added that efforts are being made to link all card holders by this month end.

July 31 is the last day for the linking of Aadhar cards, after which food grains will be provided to only those cards that have been linked.

"For example, in a family of five, if only one person has linked his/her Aadhar card with ration card, then such families will receive food grains for only one person from comming September," he said.
