Karwar: MLA Satish Sail has said he would try to get facilities like minimum wage, PF and other government benefits to contract employees working at Kaiga Automic Energy Plant.

Addressing the contract - workers at Kaiga Check Post at Mallapur in the taluk, he said that the labour contractors were exploiting the workers by not paying them full wages and other facilities. Workers who have put in several years of service should get benefits.

Contract employees complained that though they had been working since 15 years their salary had not been hiked. They were given Rs 9,000 per month, which was not sufficient to manage their family. Furthermore, they were not getting leave and other facilities and the contractors were exploiting them by not giving salary regularly. Though the issue was brought to the notice of Kaiga Plant officials nothing had happened. 

 He asked workers to prepare a list of employees, number of their service, etc. and he would hold discussion with Kaiga Automic Energy Plant officials about regularising the service of workers who had completed 10 years of service.
