Mangaluru: U T Khader, Karnataka Minister for Food and Civil Supplies has informed that the Karnataka government will simplify procedures for getting new ration cards under the public distribution system (PDS).
Speaking to presspersons in Mangaluru on Saturday, he said that the government is planning to simplify the procedures to obtain a ration card. A person has to fulfil 14 conditions to obtain a ration card currently which will be simplified and brought down to four. It is soon to be proposed in the cabinet.
He also informed that the government will soon begin the supply of double fortified salt to consumers under the PDS, which will help reduce anemia and iodine-deficiency disorders.
