MANGALURU: Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala inaugurated an advanced comprehensive clinical training and simulation centre, a centre for systems biology and molecular medicine, stem cells and a regenerative medicine centre and a robotic surgery unit at Deralakatte.
He stressed the need for women empowerment and urged that opportunities must be given for women to excel. He also said he observed that about 70 percent of gold medallists in universities are women.
The Advanced Comprehensive Clinical Training and Simulation Centre (ACTS-YEN) is a unique centre and the largest state-of-the-art simulation centre in India with the current vision simulators.The centre conceptualized in 2015 has an anatomage table, high fidelity simulators, virtual reality simulators.
Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Centre (SCRMC-YU) is a new initiative of the university under Yenepoya Research Centre (YRC) and was conceived in 2016. This is to initiate cooperative and collaborative activities to address scientific, clinical problems.
Yenepoya Hospital is the first centre to own the Robotic Surgery Centre in the district. Robotic surgery or robot-assisted surgery technique and has been adopted by hospitals in the US and Europe. RS system includes a camera and mechanical arms with surgical instruments attached to them. The surgeon can easily control the arms while seated at a computer near operation table.
He said that the country has the potential to develop advanced technologies in various sectors, if given an opportunity.
