Bhatkal: A fisherman went missing and seven others swam to safety when their boat capsized in the Arabian sea on Thursday.
According to the sources, 8 fishermen went fishing on a boat named 'Guru Anugraha' on Wednesday. Their boat overturned in the middle of the sea because of high tides at 4.30 pm. One fisherman had gone missing while swimming for his life. The missing person has been identified as Manjunath Babu Kharvi (35).
Meanhile, the other 7 fishermen swam for 7 hours and reached another boat 'Mastideep' where they were rescued and immediately brought back to the shore in the wee hours of morning. It is reported that due to long-distance swimming, the 7 fisherman were completely fatigued and were hospitalised without any further delay.
They have ben identified as Panduranga Nagappa Kharvi (42), Krishna Candrakanth Kharvi (26), Nagesh bab Kharvi (32), Ramesh Maasti Karv (38), Madhav Krishna Kharvi (35), Ajeet Gond Kharvi (26) and Subhash Krishna Kharvi (32).
