Rabita awards for women, female toppers felicitated

Bhatkal: The annual Rabita awards for women were held on Friday at Anjuman High School ground under the patronage of Dr. Farzana Mohtesham, principal of Anjuman PU College for women. The Guest of Honour was PSI Revathi.

The programme started with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by Najeeba Zikra Peshmam and translation by Sameen Ali Akbara. Aisha Taskeen Syed Rafeeq sang the Hamd while the Naath was sung by Samha Mahmood Barmawar. 

The programme was compered by the English lecturer Talia Muallim in an articulate manner. Dr. Farzana Mohtesham presented the brief introduction about Rabita society while Psychology professor Shabeena Farooq Ruknuddin introduced the guests. Political science lecturer Gulshan Mategar spoke about the preventive measures taken by Rabita and Majlis-e-Islah-wa-Tanzeem  to control the road accidents. 

Chief guest Asma Zahra,Executive member of All India Personal Law Board, spoke about women rights in Islam and urged the ladies to follow Islam religiously. The president of the function, Dr. Aliya Nazneen Jukaku (MBBS, DCH, MRCPCH), urged everyone to receive education and to reflect it in our actions and words. Computer science lecturer Noore Ashad hosted the prize distribution ceremony.

On the occasion, the Principal of P U College for Women, Farzana Mohtesham was conferred Extraordinary achievement award along with a medal and a cash prize of 10000, for being the first woman PhD in the whole district.  History lecturer Shehnaz S A delivered her vote of thanks. The programme reached its end with the supplications by Deenyath teacher Qamar Jahan.
