Karwar: Activists oppose the river diversion schemes in the Western Ghats areas as that will have adverse effect on nature as well as on human beings.

It is reported that a committee of experts and officials has been set up for a study of the Aghanashini river diversion project. “We oppose this proposal,” said environmental activists of Uttara Kannada district.

The activists said that they opposed the river diversion scheme or any other projects in the district as it is overburdened with various projects. Environmentalist Balachandra Sayimane said that such projects were against wildlife conservation rules.
