Udupi: The sensational murder of hotelier-cum-businessman Bhaskar Shetty has shook the entire region of Udupi.

At a press conference, veteran advocate M Shantaram Shetty demanded that SP Annamalai should be appointed as the investigating officer for the murder case.  

Terming the case as 'rarest of the rare' and bearing resemblance to the Tandoor case of 1995 wherein the accused Sushil Sharma killed and disposed his wife's body in a tandoor. But in the case, the police were able to recover some bones and the murder was proved from there.

He also demanded that the case should be handed over to a honest and experienced officer like S P Annamalai. He also charged that the FIR lodged at Manipal police station looks like it is favouring the accused. The police themselves have destroyed the evidence by filing a weak FIR, he accused. He also added that he will provide support to the prosecution from his side.

Crowd gathers to witness the culprits

Crowd gathered in large numbers in front of the crowd to witness the culprits Rajeshwari Shetty and son Navneeth Shetty who were taken to the court. The city police station inspectors Jaishankar and SI Anant Padmanabh had tough time managing the crowd.

A video has gone viral on the social media which shows police engaged in hospitable attitude towards the accused in the murder case. The public alleged that it proves that the police are hand in glove with the murder accused.
