Two women held for chain-snatching

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru South Police have arrested two women who allegedly snatched gold chains and stole from people's pockets in the city.

Addressing mediapersons, DCP (Law ad Order) Shantharaju said Silwi (24) and Arai (22) hail from Mettupalam in Tamil Nadu and were apprehended by inspector K.U Belliappa when they were trying to sell the stolen jewellery. The police have seized gold ornaments worth Rs 2,64,000 and a cash of Rs 1,45,000.

It is learnt that the accused had snatched gold chains at four different places since July 25. He said they used to snatch money from women while travelling in a bus, walking and bus stops.
