Karwar: The Uttara Kannada district police have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth celebration of the Independence Day in view of perceived threat by anti-social elements to disturb peace during the celebrations. Security have been tightened around sensitive places like Kaiga Nuclear Power station and INS Kadamba naval base in Karwar on Monday.
Tourist places like Karwar, Gokarna and Murudeshwar in Uttara Kannada will be kept under special supervision, the sources said
In view of warnings of sabotage by terror organizations on Independence Day and also based on the intel that Kaiga nuclear power station, the naval base, some hydro-electric stations, dams and the commercial port in Karwar are on the hit list of terror groups, sources said.
The office of SP has said that police will be on high alert in public places like bus and railway stations, cinema theatres, radio stations, office of the deputy commissioner, courts and other government establishments.
Police have requested the public not to allow unknown persons in their locality and not to rent their houses to the unknown persons and to inform to the nearest police department or the control room if they come across suspicious persons or materials. People are requested to cooperate with police during security checks.
