Bhatkal: Lion educational awards was organised by Lion Sports Centre on 15th August, Monday. The programme was attended by intellectual elite and religious scholars alike.

Speaking as a chief guest, Dr. SM Syed Khalilur Rehman mentioned the achievements of the ancestors and the educational achievements of Muslims from Spain to Syria, Iraq and Baghdad and added that the inventors of arithmetic, science and medicine were Muslims. 

Khatib of Jamia Masjid, Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadvi, in his brief speech spoke about the followers of Prophet Mohammed(Peace be upon him) and how they impressed people by their character. He called upon the gathering to adopt good morals and upheld righteousness. 

The meritorious students coming under the Lion Sports Centre limits were awarded for their accomplishments in engineering, MBA, PU-II, SSLC classes. Even students of eighth and seventh standard were awarded for their exceptionally good marks. A total of 22 students were awarded with gold medals.

Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi also spoke on the importance of education, Anjuman Hami Muslimeen Bhatkal President Mr. Abdul Raheem Jukaku, Jamia Islamia incharge Maulana Maqbool Kobattey Nadvi and members of Lion sports center Maulvi Abdul Aleem Qasmi, Mr. Burhan Kokari, Ibrahim Fakardey, Sameer Kokari, Yusuf N and others were present on the dais. 

The programme began with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by Mohammad Zafaf Zubair Armar and welcome speech by Maulvi Abdul Mueed Shingeri. The programme was compered by Maulvi Abrarul Haq Nadvi.  The program ended with the supplications by Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat chief Qazi Mohammad Iqbal Mulla Nadvi who presided over the program. Wasim Gawai presented his vote of thanks.
