Man carrying 26 passports detained at Mangaluru international airport

Mangaluru: A man carrying 26 passports, who was about to board a flight to Dubai was detained at Mangaluru International Airport here on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Abdullah Taliparamba, a resident of Kannur, was held at Mangaluru International airport. During security inspection, the immigration officials found that he was illegally carrying passports of 26 people without any authorization letter. Among 26 passorts, 2 passports belonged to US nationals and 24 other belonged to Indians. The names of US nationals are Arakkal Manzoor and Manzoor Shuja. Also it is said that he had borrowed some passports from Haj pilgrims promising them to provide visa. 

Bajpe police have arrested the accused for further questioning. As per the Passports Act 1967, it is illegal to transport passports to other countries through post.

As the accused was unable to produce authorization letters of those passports, he was arrested for illegally carrying them. Further investigations by Bajpe police officials are in process.
