Kumta: In a gruesome road accident, one person was killed on the spot when the car he was travelling met with a head-on collision with truck. The incident took place at early morning around 8AM on 18th August, Thursday at Manki NH-66 in Kumta. 

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Naik (56), Bhatkal regional forest officer by profession. 

As per the information, the incident took place when car was on the way towards Karwar from Bhatkal whilst the truck was on the way towards Kumta from Ankola route. Mr. Manjunath was driving the car when the incident took place. The impact of collision completely damaged the front portion of car. Traffic jam was observed for a while. 

In this regard, a case has been registered in Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
