Kumta: Man assaulted for transporting cattles

Kumta: Suspected members of saffron organization assaulted a person who was involved in illegal cattle trafficking and then handed him over to the police on 6th August, Saturday at Devakikrishna temple at Kumta.

It was reported that Nagabhushan Hegde, a resident of Holangadde in Kumta was transporting cattles in a goods vehicles when Hindu activists  stopped him at the temple and assaulted him.

It is said that Nagabushan was involved in illegally trafficking the cattles since many days. Having observed that, the Hindu activists were waiting for an opportunity to catch him red-handed.

Meanwhile, he was seen transporting cattles on Saturday when he was stopped by the Hindu activists at Herwatta. When asked about where he was taking the cattles, he replied that he was transporting to Ankola from Valgalli village of Kumta. PSI Shashikumar visited the spot and seized the vehicles and cattles.

A case has been filed in this regard and further investigations are on.
