Bhatkal: Educational awards programme was organised under the aegis of Khaleej Muslim Sharavati Council where meritorious students of Honnavar and surrounding villages were rewarded for their outstanding achievements.
The programme began with the recitation of Holy verses of Quran by Ahmed Khwaja Bongya and translation by Saalim Sadalgi. Saad Shamoon Sadalgi sang the Naath. Maulavi Dr. Abdullah Sukri presented the report of the council whereas Muzaffar Sheikh Valki presented the achievements of Valki Ittihad School.
Chief Guest of the function, Chairman of Sahilonline, Dr. S M Syed Khaleelur Rahman spoke about the importance of education and stressed the gathering to pursue higher studies since Muslims are backward in the field of education.
Maulana Ubaidullah Kandloori of Madrasa Zia-ul-Uloom, Kandloor alerted about the conspiracies against the Muslims and called upon the Muslims to stay united in spite of differences. He also stated about the negative effects of Mobiles, cellphones and games on the studies.
Renowned advocate of Honnavar Tilkani, president of Majlis-e-Islah-wa-Tanzeem Muzammil Kazia and many other spoke about the value of education. Council chief Khwaja Abkar presided over the function and Ansar Nadvi compered the program. Shamoon Khan delivered his vote of thanks and the programme reached its end with the supplication by Kazi of Manki Maulana Shakeel Nadvi.
Mubarak D/o Sadiq Khan was awarded for completion of Quran memorisation. She is the student of Madrasul Hasanat Tengingundi, Bhatkal.

For SSLC, Muzammil Abdul Mutallib Sheikh, Marathama English Medium School for scoring 98.02%, Asif Maqbool Hussain Apkar, National Public School, Rayebannur for scoring 94.40%, Muaz Mohammed Ghouse Khan, Kannada High School, Gersuppa for securing 94.4%, Sumra Haneef, Marthamma English Mediun School for securing 93.60%, Mohammed Azeez Awlaji, Sri Siddhi Vinayak High School for 89.12% and Zakiya Syed Asif, Shri Sharadamba High School for 88.16%
This year, it was decided that students of general category from Honnavar to Gersuppa will be awarded. Aditya Shankar Hegde and R. Shilpa, both students of SDM college, Honnavar were awarded for scoring 97% marks in PU-II examinations.
Vice-president Muazzam Manna, Sahilonline director Qamar Sada, vice president of Tanzeem Inayatullah Shabandri, Fazlur Rahman Jukaku of BMJD, Haris Raikar of Honnavar, Mansoor Mukhtesar, Muhiyuddin Sukri, Hussain Shaikh, Muzaffar Sheikh and others were on the dais.
