Karwar: Thieves made away with precious ornaments worth Rs 5.6 lakh and a bike from two houses in Sadashivgad taluk here on Sunday.

According to police officials, the thieves broke the houses belonging to Vishnu Desai and Ravindra Naik, next to the BSNL office on Saturday night. While family members of Desai live in Mumbai, the house has been locked for several days now, whereas the family members of Naik had gone visit their relatives and had locked the house.

Chittakul Police Station has registered a case and are investigating.
