Hubli: In a tragic incident, Anil Revankar, a resident of Anand Nagar in Hubli was murdered by his wife Anita and son Nitin. 

It is said that Anil had a love marriage with the Ranebannur- based Anita in 1996. 20 years later, Anil began to stay at his mother's house after coming to know about his wife's extramarital affair while Anita stayed with their son Nitin near Gopanakoppa in Hubli.

On 4th November 2015, Anita invited Anil to her house, gave him a glass of curd mixed with sleeping pills. Then she sprinkled chilli powder in his eyes and smothered him with a pillow. The same night, the dead body was packed from Ranebennur and was thrown in the Tungabadra river at Kumar Pattana.

Fifteen days after the incident, Anita started making stories and filed a missing complaint of her husband in Hubli's Upanagar police station. Meanwhile, Sumitra mother of Anil, filed a case  in Upanagar police station alleging that her son was murdered by her daughter-in-law and grandson. 

Police were successful in identifying the real culprit behind the murder of Anil after observing the call logs in Anil's mobile on the day of murder. Police have arrested Anita, Nitin, Anita's brother Mahantesh and his wife Geeta. Also police are in search of one more accused who is absconding.
