Kumta: The foundation stone laying ceremony for 'Juma Masjid' at Mirjan was held in the presence of various Islamic scholars of Kumta in the morning around 10:30 am on 18th August, Thursday.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran. Badruddin Saheb addressed the welcome speech, followed by singing of naat on the occasion. 

Maulana from Mirjan, in his speech, enlightened about the importance of mosque according to Islam.

On the occasion, Kumta Jamat Ul Muslimeen president Muhammad Shafi Sheikh, General secretary of North Kanara Muslim United Forum Muhammad Mohsin Quazi, Kumta Muslim Association President Muhammad Akbar Mulla, Majlise-Islah-Wa-Tanzeem vice president Inayatullah Shabandari Bhatkal, Ali Sahab and hundreds of locals witnessed the ceremony.
