Muscat: Five people including two children died in a road accident in Haima this morning, said the Royal Oman Police.

ROP said that there was a collision between a car and a truck in Al Khamham area near Um Zamayim in Haima in Al Wusta Governorate.

The accident resulted in the death of five people including two children less than 14 years of age.

The ROP Air Wings Division air lifted three bodies to Nizwa Hospital while the two children were transported by Oman Oil Development Company’s ambulance.

The vehicle carrying the victims was coming from Wilayat Adam heading towards Dhofar Governorate when its tires burst while traveling in the opposite direction towards oncoming trucks.

The collision resulted in the car being split into two and instant death of the passengers; the truck also received heavy damage while the driver remained unharmed.
