Bhatkal: An elderly person succumbed to his injuries today, Friday, when he was knocked by a bike on Thursday. It is said that he was walking on Jali Cross road at Bhatkal towards National Highway when the incident occurred.

The deceased has been identified as Syed Hashim Syed Hussaina (70) from Bhatkal Azad Nagar 1st cross.

It is said that he was going to a paint shop when a speeding bike hit him. He suffered head injuries and was rushed to Kundapur hospital after initial treatment at Bhatkal Govt hospital, later he was shifted to Mangalore, but today, Friday, he passed away at Mangaluru owing to the injuries.

Syed Hashim spent more than 20 years in Muscat Oman for his family's livelihood. He returned to Bhatkal around 9 years back. He was survived by wife and two sons.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal town police station against bike rider who is said to be working for a courier company
