70th I-day celebrations celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm

Bhatkal: The 70th Independence day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour in various departments, offices, schools, colleges, institutions and organizations all across the Bhatkal taluk.

The flag was hoisted by Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Chidananda Watare at Nawayath colony taluka stadium (also known as YMSA ground). Addressing the audience, he mentioned the freedom fighters who fought for our independence like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar and many others.  However, the locals were irked over the fact that for once, he didn't mention about a single muslim who was involved in the fight for independence. They expressed their displeasure for ignoring the Muslim freedom fighters.

Chidananda Vatare said that it is our duty to honour the sacrifices of our ancestors. On this occasion, he recalled the sacrifice of the troops to protect the border. MLA Mankal Vaidya, in his presidential remarks, emphasised on health and education and explained about his to aim to sanction 1000 crores for the development of Bhatkal.

Tahsildar V N Badkar welcomed the gathering whereas Block Education Officer Venkatesh Patgar delivered his vote of thanks. Taluka Panchayat President Ishwar Naik, President of Bhatkal Municipality  Ravindra Manjuma, Taluka Panchayat Standing Committee Chairman Vishnu Devadiga, members Hanumanth Naik, Mohsin Jaka, Taluka Panchayat Officer CT Naik, Municipal Chief Officer Ramesh, CPI Suresh Nayak and others were present.

Teacher Shridhar Shet compered the programme. The police department, school and college NCC cadets led by PSI Revathi took part in the special parade and salute ceremony.

The members and office bearers of Majlis-Islah-wa-Tanzeem, Rabita society and Bhatkal Muslim Youth federation among others were present on the occasion.

Independence day celebrations at Murdeshwar

Murdeshwar: The 70th Independence Day was held at Nehru Maidan at Mawalli -1 grama panchayat. President  of grama panchayat, Mangala Ishwar Naik hoisted the flag. Dr. Sunil Jatin was invited as the special guest and  E Shivappa was the guest. Grama panchayat vice president, members, staff, lecturers, teachers, students, police department personnel and others were present. 

Higher primary school students of Karikatte sang the welcome song. Panchayat Development Officer SB Hatti welcomed the gathering. Grama panchayat member Manjappa Ganesh Naik compered the program. Lokeshvar K. Gond presented his vote of thanks.
