Bhatkal: The newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) for Uttara Kannada district, Deepan M.N. (IPS), made his first official visit to Bhatkal on Sunday. He was warmly received by representatives of various social and educational institutions, as well as local elected bodies.
Upon his arrival at the Bhatkal Town Police Station, SP Deepan was welcomed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Mahesh, while a ceremonial guard of honour was presented by police personnel under the leadership of Circle Inspector Divakar.
Prominent community leaders who greeted the SP included Inayatullah Shabandri, President of the century-old social organisation Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem; Abdul Raqeeb M.J. Nadvi, General Secretary of the organisation; Ateeq-ur-Rahman Muniri, General Secretary of Rabita Society; Muhiyuddin Ruknuddin, Secretary of Anjuman College; Altaf Kharuri, In-charge President of the Town Municipal Council; Advocate Imran Lanka, Vice President of Jali Patan Panchayat; and local BJP leaders Govind Naik and Krishna Naik, among others.

During the visit, SP Deepan held a meeting with senior police officers in Bhatkal to assess the current law-and-order situation and issued necessary directives to maintain peace and public safety in the region. He affirmed that the campaign initiated by former SP M. Narayan against illegal activities in the district would not only continue but would be further intensified.
The SP also stressed the importance of tackling drug abuse, curbing criminal activities, improving traffic discipline, and building stronger trust between the police and the community through coordinated and transparent policing efforts.
