Bhatkal: In a shocking incident from Raichur district in Karnataka, a four-year-old boy was severely injured after being attacked by a group of stray dogs. The incident occurred on Sunday during the Muharram holiday, when the boy was playing near his home.
According to the boy's father, one stray dog suddenly lunged at the child, grabbed him by the neck, and attempted to drag him away. Within moments, four more dogs joined in and began to maul him. Fortunately, the boy’s mother, who was standing at a distance, rushed to his aid. She managed to scare off the four dogs by throwing stones, but the dog that had latched onto her son’s neck was difficult to separate. After a desperate struggle, she was finally able to rescue him.
The boy, identified as Mohammad Nauman, a student of LKG, was immediately taken to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital with serious injuries to his head, neck, and face. He is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be conscious and recovering.
Speaking to SahilOnline over the phone, the boy’s father, Mohammad Farooq, said his son had suffered deep wounds on his scalp and face. “By the grace of Allah, my child survived. The pack of dogs left no stone unturned in their attack,” he said. Farooq requested everyone to pray for his son’s speedy recovery and also urged parents not to leave their children alone outside.
He further appealed to the government to take immediate steps to address the growing menace of stray dogs in residential and public areas by relocating them to forest zones, in order to prevent such horrific incidents in the future.
