Bhatkal: A 50-year-old man died after a bus rammed into his scooter from behind on National Highway 66 at Mood Bhatkal around 10 a.m. on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Sundar Achari, a resident of Puruvarga in the taluk.
According to sources, Achari was riding his scooter from Puruvarga towards Bhatkal when a government bus hit him from behind. It is said that the bus, which was travelling from Manipal to Gokarna, slightly brushed against the scooter, causing him to fall on the road. Unfortunately, as he fell, the bus wheel ran over his head, killing him on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, Bhatkal Circle Police Inspector Diwakar rushed to the spot along with his team and carried out the necessary legal procedures.
After conducting a post-mortem examination at Bhatkal Government Hospital, the body was handed over to the family members. Sources said the deceased is survived by his wife, a daughter, and two sons.
A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
